Sports travel?

Tonight India & Pakistan are playing one day international cricket match between them in England and excitement in these two country is palpable. One can go anywhere and every where in restaurants to pubs to clubs and one is thing is playing on almost all the screens. The cricket game. Many people have gone to the extent of taking flights to England just to watch the match.

So as a traveller, how likely it is for you to spend on a costly flight ticket for a game of say tournament. I read a lot about soccer or football love of people and how many of the fan clubs travel with their teams unofficially mostly pooling their own money many times to support their favourite teams and to cheer for them.

The world cups of soccer are madness and then there are series like European Premier League etc. Tennis is huge game in many country and people follow Wimbledon, US Open, Australian Open, French Open on a scale and enthusiasm unimaginable for many other. Polo, Golf, F1 Moto GP are other few games garnering fame, money and eyeball around the world at some scale of other.

However, which game we could say is biggest travel motivator? It seems football/ Soccer will beat any game hands down for top spot mobilising 100+ countries to compete for coveted trophy and mobilising people as well to travel and go around the place.

It would be good to hear from any of you to hear about your travel story motivated by sports in particular, however, for now let’s see the Cricket Match. #Ind v/s #Pak. #ChampiansTrophy #Edgbaston #England #Cricket #Game

When I thought of being with colour Yellow – 3

I have been little, okay damn lazy for updating this pace, however there you go with third and last installation of my date with Amritsar.

I felt “hypnotisingly” happy, if Queen allow this word, the moment I set my eyes on the dome of the temple. It’s colour, Golden, mesmerised me and I sat down at a spot to just watch it for some time. It was peaceful. After marvelling on beauty of the place for some time which I did not realised became 2 hours or so. I decided to go and have a talk with the holy seat.

Taking a bath right before the teté a teté with the Primal Seat in the Gurudwara Sarovar was great experience which made me awakened me from a trance. I went right in front of Sahib and spent some time.

When I came to my senses, Sun was already on its way to glory and my stomach started asking for the day’s installament. I headed out towards lane of the eatery right outside the gurudwara and quenched my need with a Patiala style glass of Lassi which is great Indian yogurt based sweet drink.

During the Lassi time, It was a great conversation time with the guy who managed that place. I came to know how much this place was inportant for local economy as well. Tourist viait thia place from every part od the globe and they some try his Lassi. His generations had been doing it and how it was honour to be in vicinity of the Holy Seat.

I took leave from him and went to Jallianwala Bagh which has a tragic history. Spent some time there breathing in the history, one can watch informative movie administration showcase there and get to know details of the place and event took place there.

Then on it was time for some dramatics filled with Nationalism, Yes, I am talking about the daily ritual at Vagha Border Post, where one of the most thrilling event happens as closing ceremony of the Border Gates between India & Pakistan.

I reached there oblivious to the fact that the place get full of people in no time and its difficult to get a good seat if you are little early for the ceremony. Nonetheless I knew how to make my way in that crowd as usual and I got to watch whole ceremony with a weird feel good sense.

The whole ceremony portrayed many aspect of both of the sides including rivalry, common history, recent conflicts etc. Both the sides want to outmatch each other in the way they perform the ceremony.

It took me few good ten minutes to recover from the euphoria I was engulfed in by the whole ceremony and to realise my date with Amritsar was coming to an end and I needed to head back to Delhi. I took same PunBus state service which safely transported me back to daily life from an usual day filled with spiritualism, nationalism, history, cuisines and what not. Memory worth archived. Thank you Amritsar.

When I thought of being with Colour Yellow!

It happened that night.

when I decide to go to Maharana Pratap Inter State Bus Terminal, Kashmiri Gate, New Delhi (ISBT) and head to somewhere, not sure of where it will lead me.It is therapeutic to do it this way. Started from my base in outskirts of Delhi – NCT ( National Capital Territory) which took me handsome one and half hour to reach bus terminal by 10 I think. Travelling by Delhi Metro gives you ample time to be by your self especially in those hours when there is not much rush and still you can’t hear the PA announcement which goes on and on and on……in Metro.

All this time I should have been anxious according to normal people’s reaction and feedbacks however I dont know whats that in that duration. Not knowing becomes my solace. Can it not be?

I reach ISBT and see debris, sand and what nots of construction work and be notified of renovation of the Terminus. I make mental note to tell my self to get used to it, this country is developing country and in your life you won’t see a phase when you can’t spot any construction work around you in miles of distance. I find my way toward heard men, groups of women and fleet of bus of all sorts. A look at this scenario and you realise even automobile have caste, creed and associated hypocrisy as a Volvo multi-axle and normal TATA buses are parked side by side or may be its just my mind. Buses are covered with vomit, dirt, spit and similar ingredient which is making a new smell to engulf busses in it.

I walk towards these busses in hope of getting a bus which does not make my sense go haywire ( foolish me), I look around and read Amritsar on a yellow board. I can’t make out if this board had been yellow by birth of my habit ( of people, of course ). There a man surrounded by a group of people who are asking for the route of bus he is conducting. I approach to find a gap to get a ticket. I have decided to go Amritsar- City of Golden Temple.

I nudge a man who happens to be Sardar and request to make some room for me. I ask the conductor for a seat. He shrugged and replied there are many, no worries. I step back to wait for him to be free to buy a ticket from him which cost me few hundreds rupees. I am in no worry or hurry anymore, I enter the bus, although bus has announced its atmosphere even before I entered but one just can’t get all of it by just smelling a wine. The many type of smells thrust themselves in my head which I unsuccessfully try to fight. Few minutes in that ambiance and mind mind create its barriers and I start to relax by looking at the infra of bus. Engines give me a successful distraction normally. I make some mental note about condition of the bus the body language of the driver and conductor to assess how long is there to roll on the wheels. I am too lazy to ask them now.

In some time driver get into his place and engine gives me assurance its fine with its voice and. …..
